Common questions
Everything employers ask us before signing up.
- What is the Apprenticeship Levy?
- Employers with an annual payroll over £3M pay 0.5% into a levy pot. This fund can be used to pay for apprenticeship training — if you don't use it, you lose it.
- What if we don't pay the levy?
- Non-levy paying employers (typically under 50 staff) benefit from a 95% government co-investment. For apprentices aged 16–18 or those with an EHC plan or care history, training is 100% funded.
- How much time does the apprentice spend off the job?
- A minimum of 6 hours per week (about 20% of working hours). This is built into the programme and delivered remotely — no need to leave the office.
- Can existing employees do an apprenticeship?
- Yes — in fact, most of our learners are existing employees upskilling. The apprenticeship just needs to represent a genuine uplift in skills and knowledge.
- How long does the AI Champion programme take?
- 13 months, including the End Point Assessment period. Learners can continue working throughout — there's no career break required.
